Yesterday, I posted a song of Mugison to my other music blog. and today I thought I would post another obscure Mugison video here. I know, I know. This video looks lame at first glance. It's grainy and fucked up. However, listen to this artist and his intonation and twang that's just right. For some reason, I find this artist to be inspired on some crazy level that is not all that common. Enjoy!

Made friends with rapper Omu Gnom of Bucharest and one of his music partners Es Qu of Bacau, even though I unable to speak their Romanian language, which all of his hip-hop tracks are in.

Omu Gnom and Es Qu has a group that goes by "Ateliere de creatie" that really cooks. Hoping for some English subtitles soon, so I can learn Romaanian through this music. Enjoy!

Never really knew much about the band Blodwyn Pig, or the Jethro Tull connection, until reading Bob Leftsetz' blog post the other day. According to a note sent to Bob following his post from George Varga, Pop Music Critic for the San Diego Union-Tribune, this Blodwyn Pig song below was one of the most popular songs in Germany where he grew up. This video is from Beat-Club, a German music television program that ran from September 1965 to December 1972. Enjoy!

Hard Rock with the singer screaming his guts out is not necessarily my personal favorite genre. That's what the band known as Mediocracy does. It's easy to see how one could get sucked into this kind of music, hardcore. It's like adrenaline metal.

Gibson Guitar Corp. Responds to Federal Raid.

This appears to be just one more thing that is wrong with the U.S. Government, in my humble opinion. I do not have all the facts, with regard to this case, but what happened to Gibson almost seems typical of the Barney Fife style actions of the Federal Government.

A Gibson Guitar Corp. Press Release stated the following:
Henry Juszkiewicz, Chairman and CEO of Gibson Guitar Corp., has responded to the August 24 raid of Gibson facilities in Nashville and Memphis by the Federal Government. In a press release, Juszkiewicz said: "Gibson is innocent and will fight to protect its rights. Gibson has complied with foreign laws and believes it is innocent of ANY wrong doing. We will fight aggressively to prove our innocence."

Here is a great recording of Nneka performing her song entitled Come With Me on madmoizelle.com, a French website that films music videos in what is usually a unplugged raw format. I especially love this recording of Nneka performing this song for how tight the shot is, letting us in close to feel her emotion about what she sings about.

Her emotions are on high in this recording. She nearly breaks down, emotionally, as she delivers this song. It's powerful. It's real. She's real.

Spoke to her once and she is thinking about some heavy geopolitical and humanitarian things with regards to her native Niger Delta region where she is from. She is tuned into the corporatists and crony capitalists who are being allowed by corrupt politicos to literally steal resources from the people of the reason, while the people of the Niger Delta live in totally poverty and their waterways and land is becoming more polluted, in ways that dwarf the BP/Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

As she points out in her song entitled "Africans", the people, Africans, must wake up and stop blaming and take control. She is a voice for uprising, change and her music is real as an activist voice. She is heroic on that level. Kind of a Bob Marley figure, reincarnated. Nneka is inspiring and a truly global artist, bouncing around the globe for shows on a regular basis now. Enjoy!

Nick Ashford and his songwriting partner & wife Valerie Simpson were not only one of the great Soul/R&B/Funk/Jazz songwriting teams from the mid sixties on, they were recording artists in their own right.

As staff songwriters for Scepter Records, Ashford and Simpson wrote Ray Charles' classic "Let's Go Get Stoned" in 1964, which brought them to the attention of Motown. The song became a number one U.S. R&B hit in 1966 for Ray Charles.

Ronnie Milsap used a song penned by Ashford & Simpson entitled Never Had It So Good

Maxine Brown recorded their song entitled One Step At A Time.

As a team the duo went on to write some of the biggest hits in R&B history including several Motown classics.

Early in 2009, as MusicLoad regulars and any of my friends will recall, I could not stop raving about Ayo. I especially loved her song entitled "Life Is Real" and wrote a little about her and posted the video at http://blog.musicload.com/2009/02/ayo-life-is-real.html.

I worked for Michael Jackson right around the time I discovered Ayo's music. I maintained and administered the website MichaelJacksonLive.Com for Jackson's company and worked with the concert promoter AEG to make it the official site for "This Is It."

Not long after I wrote that 2009 blog post about Ayo, Jackson sold one million tickets to his shows in one day. I was so inspired by Ayo that I began lobbying those at Jackson's company to get Ayo considered to open some of Jackson's This Is It shows in London. I tried to influence everyone to check out and consider Ayo, as well as the artist who led me to discover Ayo who is another gem of a artist named Nneka. Unfortunately, my opening act idea never came close enough to fruition. Oh, well.... I'm still so sad about Michael Jackson's death. But, it makes me feel good to listen to Ayo and Nneka and know they are becoming more well known around the world. They are both as inspired as it gets. And, whilst both are totally original in their own right, I hear a little bit of Michael Jackson in both, at times. Listen to all of the songs each artist has released, and you'll know what I mean.

So, this year, Ayo finally came out a couple of new songs. One song is a very sweet tribute to Michael Jackson where she covers "I Want You Back". This is not one of my favorites by Ayo. I guess I really like artists best when they don't do covers. But I am amazed at how much she actually sounds like Michael Jackson singing. It's almost hard to peg Ayo as being the vocalist in this track.

At first listen, the front man Felix Reibl doesn't really stand out in this song, but if you hang on and listen, it's quickly apparent that the band, in a very traditional rock sounding way, is really good.

Very sad to have just read the story on the news wire that one of my favorite major recording artists, Amy Winehouse, has passed away. Her music may never die. She had that "it" thing that I loved the first time I ever heard her music. Words cannot express my saddness at this time over this tragedy. She was a real true original.

I will never forget the first time I heard Amy Winehouse in 2002/2003. A free download was made available on either download.com or mp3.com or her track entitled Stronger Than Me. Had never heard of her before that fateful download and was blown away by her sound. I played that song at least a thousand times.

For people who know MusicLoad well, we are the Anti-Idol and the site that hates manufactured music. And personally speaking I have been the Anti-Gaga, always thinking of her as a media slut, packaged by public relations people with no integrity and nothing but the ability to hype.

Yesterday I receive a e-mail through Bob Leftsetz, a prolific music business analyst whose blog at Lefsetz.Com is one of my favorite daily reads. Here is Bob's post which he titles "Gaga on Stern": http://lefsetz.com/wordpress/index.php/archives/2011/07/22/gaga-on-stern/. I almost did not read it because it had Gaga in the title. But I did and Bob makes a case for the Gaga haters to go listen to her performance on Stern.

I closed my eyes, as Bob recommended, and listened. And for the first time, ever, I appreciated Lady Gaga. Her performance reminded me of what I like about long time MusicLoad.Com favorite, Sara Bareilles, or a unknown named Susan Calloway and her track Chasin' The Sun. Basically, Gaga just sat at the piano sang her ass off about real things that have affected her life. She showed a real side of herself that had been hidden. At least a side that I had not ever looked for. It moved me.

Lady Gaga whose real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, bared her soul and I believed it to be genuine.

Don't know how to rate this artist. She reminds me more of people I know who write songs for a living rather than a person who is working on becoming a successful recording artist. However, she has these moments where she pops through and I wonder what she is really up to. Almost feels like she is acting or contrived at times, but, then again, there are these moments where I feel her pain, ups & downs, love, hate.... There is something I like about her, like a friend I always like to drop in on and to hear there latest song. She definitely has talent and a great sense of humor. I enjoy following her, regardless of what she is doing. Maybe you will too.

It's another tragic time in U.S. war mongering history when the U.S. and it's allies are engaged in yet another illegal and immoral preemptive strike and war of choice. The latest U.S. led quagmire is against a Libyan leader who threatened the U.S. reserve currency status by trading the oil of his country, not on the dollar, but where buyers were to begin having to buy with gold. And, it is refreshing to see a young up & coming artist, Jules Larson, deliver a song with Anti-War overtones that encourage viewers to Raise A Little Hell. The sixties may be over, but the wars and Vietnam style quagmires certainly are not. This video was produced in mid 2010 by the excellent Resident Band crew in Los Angeles, long before this latest U.S. led attack mentioned above, but please watch this outstanding video and THINK, people. THINK and raise a lot of hell. It's time. HOPE and NOBEL PEACE PRIZES are clearly all hype. THINK and ACT ACCORDINGLY.

Morgan Cameron Ross has one of those familiar faces. Looks like Matt LaBlanc from Friends a little bit, and he also looks like about three people in my neighborhood. Turns out Morgan is from Canada and a self described doglover. Besides being a songwriter and solo musical artist, he is also in the pop band Birds of Wales.

What really grabbed my attention when listening to his music was a video of him in Tahir Square in Egypt on February 18th, 2011, during the uprising by the Egyptian people against their U.S. backed leader. He described how it really was, from a civilian Westerner point of view. And he shot some super footage which is included in his video below.

'Heaven' was used in the acclaimed skate film Fully Flared directed by Spike Jonze and Ty Evans. The collaboration inspired the directors to take footage and re-edit a sequence of shots that shows the Lakai skateboarding team demonstrating their considerable skills as they navigate through and around various exploding obstacles. With 'Heaven' as the musical backdrop, the resulting marriage of sound to picture is quite extraordinary.
